Antaean has risen onto the music scene in the city of Columbus, Ohio, which the four members have called home for several years attending the Ohio State University. Antaean has been defined by its fans as "classically-influenced Rock band with a modern twist." Willie Hunter, a noted music journalist and head of Fresh Entertainment once told Ben Schwarzwalder, "you have 'it'." .... The band was formed in 2007, and went through several lineup changes until finally settling on its four current members. Founded by lead song writer, vocalist and guitarist, Ben Schwarzwalder, along with drummer and pianist, Mark Maslowski carried on with the band. Shortly thereafter, guitarist Eric Morgan and bassist Diego Villasmil set instantly with the vision of the founding members adding their unique style to the already well crafted songs. Adding the final piece to Antaean's dynamic sound is Ben Jones. His experience and creativity on the Keys adds a whole new element to Antaean live and in the studio. Looking forward, Antaean continues to feed their creative fire by composing unique and attractive songs for themselves and their audience. Their ability to please a crowd has been well known by their loyal fans for almost a year now, and having headlined and played many venues in Ohio like the Alrosa Villa, Skully's Music Diner, Oldfield's, the Newport, House of Crave, The Lodge Bar, Gibby's, and countless more, Antaean has left its mark progressing itself to one of the best bands in Ohio. Antaean has been featured during the halftime of every Crew game and its Crew song entitled "Black and Gold" is being used for the Crew's new marketing and advertising campaign..... The name Antaean comes from Greek mythological giant named Antaeus, whom was born son to Gaia and Poseidon. Because of this, Antaeus was indomitable while he was touching the earth. The band takes meaning with this name as a symbol for how they operate as musicians; as long as they stay grounded, keep a level head, and stay true to themselves, there is nothing they cannot accomplish. Indeed, Antaean has achieved a lot in its short time in the market. The band has traveled as far as Atlanta, Georgia for its music, and has been in Columbus Alive, an Ohio arts and entertainment newspaper.
