Jimmy Razor a.k.a. Jim Hutter is a veteran of the Columbus original rock scene, having played with The Epicureans, Roswell Beach, The Revolvers, and currently the Moops. As a side project, he has taken to performing his own brand of rockabilly and roots-rock, blending the simplicity of pre-psychedelia with post-punk energy and irreverence.
Jimmy Razor has harbored a love of early rock 'n' roll for most of his life. Discovering punk in the 'eighties, Jimmy embraced the "Do It Yourself" mentality, liberally applying it to every note he has ever played. As a solo artist, the end result is a stripped-down take on roots rock that owes as much to Buddy Holly as it does The Ramones.
Razor unabashedly wears his rock 'n' roll passions on his sleeve. Keeping the tempo energetic and the attitude subtly rebellious, he performs a mix of originals and classics with only his voice and guitar. Bucking the current trends, Jimmy Razor unashamedly throws in tunes by the likes of Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, The Rolling Stones, Nick Lowe, and The Ramones, all in the name of keeping things simple and unpretentious.
Now, Jimmy Razor has graduated to performing with a full band. Enlisting lead guitarist Chris Olson, bassist John Colarossi, and Michael Fridley, this new combo has already started playing club dates around Columbus.
